Joshua Petit is the owner and founder of Petit Hives and Keep It Living Apiaries. Located in Connecticut at Beehive Swamp. We have a broad range of foraging habitat from tulip poplar & chestnuts to clethra.
The events that have led me to where I am now began 4 years ago when I met the girl of my dreams. From the beginning you could always find us together in the garden among the bees and flowers and things. Beehive Swamp a hidden gem where I met the love of my life amongst the cherry blossoms. Dating back to a map of 1849 passed down from my ancestors. Back in the day the bees were buzzing pollinating every fruit flower they could find. Fast forward to our generation the decline of bees have been a challenge even when the swamp is filled with willows and red maple.
So one day while patiently tendering a eggplant the flower of my life told me a story about a compost she had before we met. Having a passion for nutrient dense soil she knew exactly how to get my attention. She went on so gracefully explaining how honeybees moved into her compost. Her eyes full of excitement and licking her lips she said honey was dripping out the bottom.
I knew from that day on I was to keep my Queen Bee who is sweeter than the honeycomb in Horizontal Hives.
Josh is a skilled woodworker and an even more passionate beekeeper who shares my philosophy on natural beekeeping. He has built hives and frames for me in the past of exceptional quality. If you have no woodworking skills and are interested in horizontal hives or top bars Petit hives is the best choice.
Josh Petit built me a double deep hive that helped me transition Lang frames onto extradeeps and it worked well. The Lazutin frames are easy to work and the bees transitioned well. It is great that Josh offers them for sale since you can not buy them anywhere else.
The frames were precision made and well packaged. Josh was very helpful in answering my questions. You should definitely try large-frame hives and order your frames from Josh.
